The Way Summer Is Meant To Be

Oh, these last few days have reminded me just how spectacular summer is!
Yesterday was surprisingly great. I really didn’t feel like going to a scholarship luncheon, so I was grumbling during the drive there. When I walked in, I was a bit early, and was lucky enough to sit in a nice restaurant with — get this — the satellite radio station Siriusly Sinatra playing. In case you don’t know, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin are two of my favorite singers, so I was basking in the few minutes I had to relax. I watched the rain fall through the huge windows around the room, listened to my favorite music, and found a much better attitude in the process. After that, lunch was great! I got to catch up with one of my friends that I haven’t seen since graduation, as well as meet someone else who will join me at Purdue this fall. It was a very nice way to spend a rainy afternoon!
My brother’s game went well. I was disappointed that tonight’s game got rained out — yesterday turned out to be the last game of the season that I will get to see. It ended on a great note, though. He ended up playing second base for the first time, and did great! Hopefully it becomes his official spot on the field — he is still talking about it. Just another instance of finding your passion and pursuing it — the kid is a baseball fanatic! Speaking of baseball (of course), my Red Sox swept the Yankees tonight. You can’t wipe the smile off of my face.
Also, I have a new amazing opportunity that might get thrown my way! A friend of mine texted me yesterday and said that, if I was interested, she could put in a good word for me at C-SPAN. Their archives are at Purdue, and they need student workers. How exciting is that?! A random opportunity that I hope to pursuse in the second semester. Keep your fingers crossed!
Tomorrow looks to be another busy day. FFA practice in the morning (state convention is next week, thank goodness!), and then Brother and I are going to get lunch somewhere. Mom and I have a date in the evening to get our nails done – we’re long overdue!
Whatever the day brings you, I hope it is full of blessings!
